Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? We've got answers. If you have some other questions, please contact us.

Is it important to own your alarm equipement?

Yes. It is important to own your own equipment. The free alarm system offers are almost always “leased” equipment. That means you are not free to switch your monitoring service. Some companies will lock you out of your equipment when you want to cancel or switch your service. Liberty Alarm does not lease the equipment. At the time of installation and payment, you own your alarm equipment. In order to offer a deep discount, Liberty Alarm does require a 1-year contract. After the first year you are free to stay with Liberty Alarm or choose another alarm company.

Should I trust the "free systems" offered by many companies and by door-to-door salespersons?

Most of these companies offer the “all in one” alarm system. While these type of systems may work for your needs, we at Liberty Alarm recommend you not use the “all-in-one” systems. It is possible for a burglar to completely disable these alarm systems before the system can send a signal to the monitoring station. We recommend a system that has a stand-alone keypad and siren with a separate control panel that is not easily located and disabled by an intruder.

What is the best system for my home?

Each home has its own unique set of security needs. That's why we individually evaluate your family's lifestyle as well as your house before recommending the right alarm system and services.

What should I do in the event of a false alarm?

Whenever your alarm is activated, one of our trained monitoring representatives will call you right away to make sure that everything is OK at your home. Simply inform them of the false alarm, and be prepared to give them the password.

How does Alarm Monitoring work?

When the alarm is activated, the alarm panel will send all of the key information to the central monitoring station. The professional staff at the monitoring station will call the home or business and ask for the Password to determine if the activation was accidental. If the correct password is given, the central station will close the call. If the correct password is not given, or the phone call is not answered, the central station will contact the local police and ask for an officer to be dispatched. They will then call the people listed on the contact list.

Does Liberty Alarm use a local monitoring center?

Yes. There are many monitoring centers throughout the country. Liberty Alarm chose to stay local to provide the best service. The monitoring center, AzSecurity Control is located in Tempe, Az. The center is certified, and has redundant power, computer, and phone systems.

What is considered a False Alarm?

Liberty Alarm is very concerned about false alarms when the police are dispatched. An alarm is counted as a false alarm by your city when the police officers actually arive at your home or business, and there is no indication of a break-in. The response of police officers can be cancelled at anytime prior to their arrival by anyone on the contact list with the correct password.

Does my city charge me for False Alarms? Do I need an Alarm Permit?

Most Cities, Towns, and Counties have False Alarm Ordinances that outline how they handle false alarms. Most areas offer 1 or 2 free false alarms, and then charge a fine for any thereafter. Most areas also require an alarm permit for your home or business. An alarm permit form will be supplied by Liberty Alarm when you begin monitoring. You can go to your area’s web-site and find more information about the local ordinance and the fees and fines involved.
